5 Bass Presentations Every Angler Should Know

You do not need fifty different techniques to catch bass consistently. A small group of presentations can cover a huge range of water, weather, depth and cover.

1. Weightless stick worm

When the bite gets tough, a weightless stick worm is one of the simplest ways to slow down and still cover productive water. Fish it around docks, grass edges, laydowns and other shallow cover.

2. Texas-rigged craw

A craw-style soft plastic on a Texas rig is a strong option around vegetation, wood and other cover. Adjust the weight to match depth, wind and how quickly you want the bait to fall.

3. Paddle-tail swimbait

A natural-colored paddle tail can imitate baitfish in clear water and gives you an easy way to cover water. Fish it on a jig head or other appropriate rig for the depth and cover you are targeting.

4. Spinnerbait or vibrating presentation

When water is stained, wind is blowing or visibility is reduced, vibration and flash can help bass locate the bait. A white or white-and-chartreuse spinnerbait is a versatile starting point.

5. Frog or popper

Topwater fishing is not only exciting—it can also be practical. Use a weedless frog around vegetation and thicker cover, while a popper is better suited to more open water, edges and targets.

The Finstorm approach

The idea behind the Strike Box is to build around useful presentations like these rather than chase a giant piece count. One bait should have a reason to be there.
